Oxygen
Helps the Body's Defenses Against Disease
|
|
When the body is depleted of
oxygen, disease causing pathogens flourish.
Many viruses, bacteria and
fungi that cause disease are 'anaerobic'. That means they only exist where
there is an absence of oxygen.
Diseases may flourish when
insufficient oxygen is transported to body cells and tissues. When disease
organisms and viruses are present, the body coats them with white blood
cells, and a cyst is formed. The infected area can become toxic, leading
to poor cell division. Eventually, tumours can develop.
This risk may be reduced if
more oxygen is available to body cells and tissues.
Pollutants and the destruction
of oxygen producing forests reduce the levels of this life giving gas.
Rain forests are described as the 'lungs of the planet'. Without them,
oxygen levels may fall worldwide. Some evidence suggests decreasing levels
of oxygen in the atmosphere caused the extinction of the dinosaurs.
Many health practitioners claim
that increased exposure to oxygen may have a positive impact on the body's
ability to deal with chronic and disabling diseases.

Why
do we need extra oxygen?
|
- Air quality in cities
is poor. Oxygen content in the air we breathe can be less than
16 percent.
- Office buildings recirculate
air, lowering the oxygen content further.
- Oxygen in the body
binds to toxins, allowing them to be eliminated more easily. When
oxygen levels are increased, red blood cells are energised. Waste
gases are removed more efficiently.
- Many disease causing
organisms cannot survive in the presence of oxygen.
- Our bodies are depleted
of life giving oxygen by smoking, pollutants, car emissions, and
our modern lifestyle.

People with respiratory problems,
pulmonary or cardiac disease or people on prescription medicines must
consult their doctor first.
O2forU should not be used as
a treatment for illnesses or medical conditions. O2forU suggest you always.
seek advice from your health professional for symptoms of poor health.
Health problems may be due to other causes besides needing additional
oxygen; eg, blood or breathing disorders. Pregnant women and children
under 12 should not use oxygen inhalation.
For normal healthy people the
oxygen content of air even in cities is perfectly adequate to sustain
life. O2forU is only intended to supplement your daily oxygen intake.
Do not use as a life support system. Ordinary breathing is recommended.
O2forU always recommend you go outside and take a breath of fresh air.
